Zeva Umbrella

Umbrella is Zeva’s option for people who work on temporary or short-term contracts and who want to operate as an employee instead of being self-employed. As such, Zeva Umbrella acts as a single employer for a large number of workers who operate within Pay As You Earn (PAYE).
As an employee of Zeva Umbrella, income is paid to you as a combination of salary and legitimate HMRC approved business expenses. As an employee you can maximise your take-home pay and know that all your PAYE and NIC deductions are taken care of whilst also taking advantage of the statutory benefits of being employed e.g. holiday pay and statutory sick pay (SSP).
How does it work?
You’re made an employee of our Umbrella Company and we in turn provide your weekly pay slips and send you a text message each Wednesday detailing your week’s payment. Your agency pays us each week your gross payment of which all the necessary deductions will be made. These deductions include our admin cost of £15, employer’s and employee’s NI and your PAYE contributions. The remainder is then paid into your bank account each Friday.
The benefit of being paid this way is that we can pay a proportion of your pay as expenses, which are tax free. (Please note this only applies if your hourly rate is over £7.75 per hour.) For example – if your weekly payment is £400, you would normally be taxed on this amount. If you were to incur £100 worth of legitimate expenses each week, then this £100 would be paid to you tax free, and you would only pay tax on the remaining £300. This reduces your overall weekly tax bill and increases your take home pay.
